SETTING UP FILOHA Part III: The monkeys!

At Filoha we are studying hamadryas baboons (Papio hamadryas). Here are some of our first pics of our study band.


 An adult male. 

An adult female.

A unit- a leader male (on the right) sits with his females and their young. On the left is a follower male that used to have a unit containing one of these females (he 'follows' her, despite no longer having reproductive access to her). 

 Although they are terrestrial monkeys, these baboons seem pretty comfortable in the trees! 

 Grooming is one of the key behaviors we are focusing on in our behavioral observations.
